1.Melamine Particleboard is engineered wood panel with compressed wood particle core, hot-pressed with durable melamine impregnated decorative paper overlay. 2.Standard dimension is 1220×2440mm, stock thickness ranges from 9mm to 18mm, customized thickness up to 21mm is acceptable. The melamine surface will not absorb water, swell or delaminate under regular indoor humidity. However, the particleboard core is not fully waterproof; exposed cut edges must be sealed with matching edge banding to block moisture ingress. With full edge sealing, it performs steadily as wall panels and door leaves in kitchens and bathrooms, and is not suitable for long-term full water immersion such as wet room floor panels.
Q3. Can melamine particleboard be cut and edge-banded easily?
Yes. Standard woodworking equipment including circular saws, panel saws and CNC routers can process this board smoothly. Compared with MDF, particleboard substrate is slightly more likely to chip at edges, so sharp carbide-tipped blades and stable feeding speed are recommended for neat cuts. Edge banding is essential after cutting, not only for tidy appearance but also to seal the substrate against moisture. Compared with MDF, it is lighter and cheaper, while MDF features denser, smoother substrate and works better for complex grooving and profiling. For most flat-panel furniture and cabinet projects, melamine particleboard achieves the optimal balance of looks, practical performance and total cost.
